South Park Blocks Tour

This 11-block downtown area was first platted and donated to the City of Portland in 1852. By the 1880s the strip of land that once served as a fire break had been transformed into one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the city – complete with schools, playgrounds, elegant homes, and places of worship – all bordering the new park.The South Park Blocks were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2022.  On this tour you’ll see a variety of churches, a former high school and historic apartment buildings, all while strolling through groves of stately trees.
